riyku prompted me with "midnight" for the

salt_burn_porn challenge. I had seven different ideas, all of which were too long to make work in the 24 hours afforded by the challenge. So this happened instead. It was written in about three hours, at least five seconds of which were spent finding a title (see evidence above).

Since 2003 pubs in Britain are allowed to extend their opening hours until after eleven pm. In practice, many don't. Also: we're talking faux-British pub on an American campus here.

Summary: Jared sort of figured that death would mean a change in location. He just didn't think he'd have to move to Los Angeles and start working as a grim reaper. Every day, he and his colleagues (Jensen, Misha and Genevieve) meet up at the Bavarian Waffle House to get their assignments from their boss, Loretta. After a rough start, Jared and Jensen just click - and decide that there's really no reason for dead guys to play by the rules. They have questions, and a road trip to Texas might help them get some answers.
While this fic is based on the premise of "Dead Like Me", it's not a retelling. This universe has its own rules and its own story, sprinkled with occasional references to the source.
Word Count: ~ 33,000
Warnings: Things that come with the territory: mentions of pain and illness, a few gory details, character death. Neither of the Js is any deader in the end than he was in the beginning, though.

Super cliche J2: J2 are long term BFs or married. Jared's been working late and forgets his birthday is fast approaching. Jensen, being awesome, decides to plan a super secret, surprise party and is sneaky about it. Jared, in his overworked delirium, thinks Jensen is cheating on him and angsts about it. Cue Jared blow up/break down in front of everyone, followed by schmoopy make up kissing and cuddles and a kick ass party. I tried to incorporate other ‘likes’ as well, for example random other real people as supporting characters.

So, somehow vampires seem to be haunting me these days (don't ask).

And while the epic J2 rewrites are still ~~not happening~~ slow-going,

imogen_lily posted a prompt at the AU comment fic challenge that I simply couldn't resist: "vampire slayer!Jared; souled vampire!Jensen". I strayed ever-so-slightly from what she wanted, apologies for that.

It turned out longer than I thought, too.

Also, I still suck at titles. This one is a Buffy and a Friends reference rolled into one. IDEK. Oh, look: Fishtachios!
